Welcome to the GWJH 7th Grade Math Web Site!
You will find reminders about assignments, extra credit work, hints and tips for working assignments, and links to lots of great math sites that I think you will enjoy. You may also contact me from here if you have any questions about the homework or lesson.
Homework Policy
I give homework on Tuesdays (Terrifically Torturous Tuesdays). Your child will get homework every Tuesday. Homework is due on Wednesday. Per district policy, if the work is not turned in until Thursday, I will deduct 10 points from the grade. If it is not turned in until Friday, I will deduct 20 points. If it comes in after that, I do not have to accept it and it will receive a zero. I always remind students of the policy when homework is given out.

Bonus Points
Students have the opportunity to earn bonus points on nearly all class work and homework. Most times, only part of a page is assigned. All extra problems that are NOT required, can be worked for bonus points. I encourage students to do the bonus work because it does not hurt them to try- if they get it wrong, it doesn't count; if they get it right, they earn one bonus point. It is not required to do the bonus.
Extra Credit
Some students are working to turn a "B" into an "A"; some are trying to pass. Extra credit work can help everyone. There is a binder of various worksheets at the front of the class. These worksheets can be done at any time and turned in when finished. Grades received will count for the six week period in which they are turned in. To have the extra credit work count, students must do the entire page, write "Extra Credit" or "XC" at the top, and turn the paper in to the box. If the work receives a grade that will HURT a student's grade, I will not count it. I only count the work that will HELP the grade.

Corrections
Students may make corrections on all class work and homework, regardless of original grade. They will get half credit back for each correctly corrected problem. Tests are the exception. Corrections can only be done on FAILING test grades and the highest grade a student can receive on the corrected test is a 70. Correcting papers helps a student's average more than doing extra credit.
Tutorials
All teachers are available for tutorials from 3:30 to 4:00, Monday through Thursday. I will be happy to stay on a Friday if prior arrangements have been made.
I am also available for early-morning tutoring sessions and lunch sessions on a special request basis. If your child can not stay after school, they may make arrangements with me for extra help at 7:30 am or during the lunch period. These arrangements will need to be made in advance.
